In late April of 2019, I was VERY unexpectedly laid off from my job. I was in a panic. I have never been laid or fired or anything of the sort in my 17 years of working various jobs. I have a wedding coming up in less than a year and had a fully-paid vacation I was ready to go on (my first in years) coming up in just over a month. I really enjoyed that job, but when financial hardships arise for small companies, marketing is always one of the first to go.

To cope, in between submitting my resume to 10-15 places a day, I decided I needed to balance the stress with some more meditative practices. For me, that meant playing music.

Between April 29th and May 3rd, I recorded 5 separate 20 minute improvised meditation sessions. I used electric guitar, effects pedals, Spacecraft iPhone Synth, and Bill Orcutt’s Cracked OS App to create these sounds. I then chopped up and mixed them to create Side A and B.

“More and More I am Less and Less” explains how I felt at that time in my life. I hope you enjoy this ambient snapshot of healing from a particularly weak week in my life.
