The second straight-to-tape release for 2016.

PHILOSOPHY:
It was only after purchasing a lot of religious propaganda cassette tapes off the internet that the idea for a release became complete and clear...

Consider this a study in the fleeting things we believe in, and the lasting impact they can have in and on the concrete reality surrounding us.

In a world where we can elect an internet troll as president...
the ones you tell your deepest secrets and sins to betray you daily...
and the planet is literally melting away from beneath of us...
spare a few minutes here to close your eyes
and take solace in what you have left of this life-
knowing that this very noise could be the last you ever have
ringing in your precious ears.

PROCESS:
In July of 2016, NEH took it about himself to experiment with new audio recording software and other compositional tools. In one evening he committed three separate 45-minute sessions of instrument sampling straight to cassette tape. These samples ranged from real guitar and bass to programmed drum loops, arpeggiated synthesizers, electronic hisses, and everything in-between.

In November of 2016, NEH then took these samples and processed them using a software instrument called Argeiphontes Lyre. This program gives the ability to cut up and process audio samples based upon a seemingly random set of controls and variables. This can result in a "fragmented" type of sound, with modulated phrases popping in and out frequently, perfect for our world's current second-long obsession with anything.

Five unique cassette tapes in total were recorded, ranging from a C60 to C90 format. Each side contains a completely different, improvised program that was tracked live in real time. As an accompaniment, meditative drumming and ambient binaural soundscape backing beats were acquired from YouTube, all to be somewhat of a constant rhythm amongst the churn of "glitched out" sampled chaos pulsating on top. And not to mention, several cuts come during the program of a speaker from the original tape content, just in time to fall back into a distorted drum excerpt or sweltering synth motif.

These five tapes are completely unique to themselves and will never be replicated again. The song samples that appear here digitally are also completely improvised and are small testaments of their own. The song titles were even randomly "created" by the Lyre program. Each "song" features a distinct set of the original samples utilized, as well as a unique meditative backing track.

*The "Bonus" track was recorded with one microphone LIVE at Friendship Mountain in Egg Harbor City, NJ on December 2nd, 2016 in accordance with the physical release of this album*
